What’s happening at our v13.0 meetup:

As we approach our final traditional meetup, it seems appropriate to emphasize the PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE of Tech on Tap.

PAST – in celebration of our past we will be going back to the beginning. At Tech on Tap v1.0 LocalStake co-founders Ryan Flynn and Kevin Hitchens came down for our first pitch. LocalStake was launched to revolutionize the capital raising process for startups. Lots has happened since then for LocalStake including the launch of their platform and capital raises exceeding targets for their first two deals. Kevin will be Skyping in to give us an update on their exciting journey.

PRESENTVelocity S.I. is a wonderful accelerator program in Jeffersonville. Its first class of cohorts completed their 100 day program in September. Five companies, 3 from the West Coast and 2 from the SE Indiana area, experienced the tremendous growth and development of an accelerator environment. Collabra is one of the rising stars to emerge. Co-founders Ron Karrol and Ryan Michaels will be coming to share their Velocity experiences and their vision for Collabra.

In addition to Ron’s day job as an accountant, he is a long time maker of music. Ron found himself moving away from his music because of a lack of musical collaborators with whom to play. The solution? Collabra, a music collaboration platform. Musician can upload their tracks to Collabra  and then mix their tracks with tracks of other musicians.

The Velocity accelerator follows Lean Startup Methodology, forcing the cohorts into contact with their customers early and often. Ryan and Ron will be able to share first hand details of how this customer contact resulted in a classic pivot to a market not envisioned at their start. Collabra is an elegant User Interface / User Experience and their story will present many teachable moments for all.

FUTURE

– Remember v13.0 is the end of our traditional meetup events but the beginning of 5, and counting, new initiatives. I have asked those wanting to lead initiatives to come forward to explore how Tech on Tap can facilitate their efforts.

David Hill accepted that invitation and will be ready to announce some of the details of the initiative he is working to launch. I met David at Tech on Tap v12.0 and asked him to lunch. After meetings like these I normally experience regret for having talked too much and listened too little. After a 3 hour lunch I finally had to get to my next stop. I really don’t remember saying much, and wow am I glad I was able to listen. My mind has literally been in overdrive ever since!

David is a futurist. David is not a daydreamer, he is a scientist and writer with a keen eye on where technology is leading us. David has written for Singularity Hub, Forbes, VentureBeat, and Huffington Post.

Evansville Tech on Tap’s mission:

In simplest terms,  creating an Innovation Startup company requires only a Founder with an idea and a Funder with Capital. In reality Innovation Startups succeed with a Founder, a Funder and a multitude of Facilitators playing supporting roles. Our mission is to support connections between the niches of the Innovation Ecosystem in Evansville. Everyone with an interest in seeing innovation based companies start and flourish in Evansville is welcome to join and attend.

Each FREE meetup will focus on three things:

Sharing time at a comfortable venue – at 5:00 p.m.

Creating an opportunity for niches of Evansville’s Innovation Ecosystem to connect and learn about one another. You decide who you want to talk with, what you want to talk about and how long you want to talk about it. (Please no business solicitations, if you are a service provider this is not the time to sell.) Begins at 5:00 p.m. and resumes after presentation.

Learning about the Innovation Ecosystem through a 15 minute presentation on a topic relevant to starting and supporting Innovation based companies. – Begins at 6:00 p.m.

Did we mention FREE?

Thanks again to our GREAT friends at the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville each person will receive tickets for two half pints of great Tin Man beer on the house! We also will be bringing back the wildly popular Tin Man smoked pizza…but in larger quantities!
