#TechSocialEVV Become a Meetup “champion”

Event Details

  • Date:

At our soft-launch of the new #TechSocialEVV initiative in December, we announced a new approach to gathering folks in person around awesome ideas, people, or technologies. To get a sense of the spirit of this meeting, please search for the hashtag #TechSocialEVV. Twubs is a nice resource for this on Twitter.

The future (now the present) of social media meetup groups is in your hands. If you have a passion around an idea, person, or technology, and you’d like to have like-minded people from our community come together to experience it, then you may have what it takes to be a meetup champion. Instead of having a leadership committee develop and provide relevant and interesting meetings about social technologies, we would like to empower you to take the reigns and take responsibility for making a meetup successful.

As a champion, you drive the bus. You develop the event, choose the locale, recruit the help you need, and provide a write-up about the details. We will help you pick an appropriate date on the Tech on Tap calendar to schedule it and help you to promote it.

A few champions have already stepped forward.

Andrew Epperson will be holding an Evernote lunch-and-learn event at Lieberman Technologies in January. He’s also discussed doing a WordPress event after that. Zac Parsons is championing an event around author Erik Deckers in January as well. Details for these events will be on their own pages, but this should give you an idea of the types of events that you could be a champion of yourself.

To become a champion, please email Zac (Zac@ZacParsons.com). The future success of these meetups is up to us!
