What’s happening at our version 2.0 meetup:

Tech on Tap is fortunate to have as our next presenter, another innovative Indiana startup…Cause.it.

Cause.it is connecting cause, community and commerce.

Cause.it is a simple, easy to navigate mobile iPhone application that allows individuals to discover local and national causes and socially conscious businesses. Nonprofits are able to recruit volunteers for events and reward them with points for their varying levels of support. Businesses are able to attract socially conscious shoppers by posting offers on the app that can be redeemed with earned points. Cause.it is the only company that offers data on the mobilization of volunteers for nonprofit organizations and allows them to engage with these supporters through the variety of other more traditional engagement tools.

Our presenter, Gagan Dhillon, is the co-founder and developed the original concept of Cause.it late in 2011 after an internship at a service firm for nonprofits. Dhillon was a Finance major at the I.U. Kelley School of Business and comes from a business and tech background. Dhillon and his co-founder Andrew Blejde, a Purdue Computer Science major, have deferred their senior years to launch Cause.it

Cause.it is has been in beta in Indianapolis and is wrapping up a funding round to finance a national roll out in strategic markets.

Evansville Tech on Tap’s mission:

In simplest terms,  creating an Innovation Startup company requires only a Founder with an idea and a Funder with Capital. In reality Innovation Startups succeed with a Founder, a Funder and a multitude of Facilitators playing supporting roles. Our mission is to support connections between the niches of the Innovation Ecosystem in Evansville. Everyone with an interest in seeing innovation based companies start and flourish in Evansville is welcome to join and attend.

Each FREE meetup will focus on three things:

Enjoying Food and Beverage – Begins at 5:00 p.m. Creating an opportunity for niches of Evansville’s Innovation Ecosystem to connect and learn about one another. You decide who you want to talk with, what you want to talk about and how long you want to talk about it. (Please no business solicitations, if you are a service provider this is not the time to sell.) Begins at 5:00 p.m. and resumes after presentation. Learning about the Innovation Ecosystem through a 15 minute presentation on a topic relevant to starting and supporting Innovation based companies. – Begins at 6:00 p.m. Did we mention FREE?

Thanks again to our GREAT friends at the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville we have Smitty’s fabulous pizza absolutely free! Plenty of soft drinks and those over 21 can have two beers on the house!
