The MakerStation is a fantastic technology workshop where people learn things like 3D modeling and printing, Desktop CNC, Laser Cutting, electronic prototyping with Arduinos and more. We are also welcoming a number of area coding groups and looking forward to innovation created through the intersection of hardware and software enthusiasts.
All these opportunities could be greatly enhanced if we just had a computer lab. ÃÂ At the end of this night, we will.
Through a generous grant from AT&T, MakerStation is launching the MakerKids initiative. AT&T’s support has funded theÃÂ purchase 12 high end workstations which will network into a kickin’ computer lab, accelerating all kinds of opportunities at MakerStation.ÃÂ
The surprise is that the we purchased the workstations as parts which need to be assembled.
For tonight’s fun we are collaborating with the EVSC Cedar Hall elementary school and New Tech Institute. We will be forming 12 teams to build the computer workstations. Each team will have a Cedar Hall student, a New Tech Institute student and an adult Tech-on-Tap member.ÃÂ
Cedar Hall and New Tech are both working to launch in school MakerSpaces and we want to get their students connected to our Tech-on-Tap and MakerStation networks.
Join us to tour the MakerStation, meet some great kids, have some fun and learn about building a computer!
We’ll be serving pizza and soft drinks so all you need to do is bring your enthusiasm.
Doors open at 3:30, teams form at 4:00, workstations should be coming online about 5:00.
