GIS day 2015 Open House

Event Details

  • Date:

In some previous meetups, we have discussed open data and tools community members could use to benefit their local governments. Mark Uhrin, Evansville’s CIO, wants to invite you to GIS day at the Civic Center. It is a relaxed opportunity to come in and look at what GIS can do.

GIS Day provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.

The first formal GIS Day took place in 1999. Esri president and co-founder Jack Dangermond credits Ralph Nader with being the person who inspired the creation of GIS Day. He considered GIS Day a good initiative for people to learn about geography and the uses of GIS. He wanted GIS Day to be a grassroots effort and open to everyone to participate.

GIS is One Fun day to:
 Celebrate GIS with everyone
 Discover and explore the benefits of GIS
 Showcase the uses of GIS
 Build and nurture your GIS community

This is where you come in. Advanced Network & Computer Services is hosting a Maps & Apps Showcase for GIS Day 2015 and we want to highlight your department’s continuing strides and successes in GIS!
Through cooperation and collaboration in GIS, Advanced Network & Computer Services and the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County will continue to provide excellent services to the public and create a lasting partnership.

Advanced Network & Computer Services is committed to giving back, so let’s celebrate our accomplishments together and look forward to continuous success.

GIS Day 2015 takes place November 18th in Room 307 at the Civic Center Complex. Cake and refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you!
