Desktop Digital Manufacturing is changing the world. The Evansville MakerSpaceÃÂ is bringingÃÂ access to these tools for all in our community. These tools create exciting new opportunities for tinkerers to impact the world in ways never previously contemplated. The prospect for the word “impossible” to fade from our vocabulary is real.
If you doubt your potential for impact using these tools take a moment and watch this video produced by my friend Ezra Paulekas and his team:

ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a disorder which progressively weakens the patient’s muscles without any impact on cognitive function. Our friend Robert Sizemore is an avid fisherman and also an ALS patient. Robert is not losing his love of fishing, only losing his ability to cast his rod and reel his bait.
Our project seeks to design, then build an adaptive fishing rod to allow Robert, and maybe others, to continue fishing.
This meetup will bring together a group to brainstorm possible designs for the RoboRod. We will have at least a couple of fishermen, but we need a diverse group of problem solvers to tackle this challenge. NO IDEA IS TOO WACKY!!
Once we have our concepts we will convene additional meetups to engage MAKERS in executing the design – Stay tuned!
We will have free Pizza and Sodas.ÃÂ
