The Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization will provide a free seminar covering the best practices for inventor-attorney interactions to ensure innovators can protect their ideas

This event is free and open to the public.

Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) operates one of the most comprehensive technology transfer programs among leading research universities in the U.S. OTC protects Purdue University intellectual property and leads the technology transfer activities for patented Purdue innovations. The goal of OTC is to help society live healthier, happier, and longer lives. OTC will assist WestGate innovators with commercialization activities, including events such as this workshop.

D.H.R. Sarma, technology manager and registered U.S. patent agent at the Office of Technology Commercialization, will present best practices in the protection of intellectual property.
“Inventor-attorney interactions are a key component in obtaining sound protection for your intellectual property, especially patents,” Sarma said. “This seminar will summarize the key elements of such interactions to obtain the best possible results.”
Innovators will have the opportunity to get answers to specific questions about licensing their technologies.

“In this forum, key aspects of patent protection for intellectual property will be discussed in a question and answer format,” Sarma said. “Participants are encouraged to bring their questions to get a better understanding about a variety of patent protection topics.”
Topics in the question and answer session can range from documenting inventions to patent infringement, patent examiner actions and protection in foreign countries.
